Unable to get Gift Registry working properly 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I purchased this component with hopes that it would help me build a wedding gift registry for a joomla website. So far, I am not impressed. But, I understand the problem may be on my end. I have some questions...

Is this component only compatible with Virtuemart 1.1.3?
Will it work with newer versions of Virtuemart?
Since the component modifies Virtuemart files, is it necessary to install VM first?
Why are the demo options in the support .pdf file not showing up on my site?
Are there other modules that I did not get in the original download?
Why does this Registry module not interact with virtuemart to select products and add them to the registry.

I would like to get some help with these issues.

Hi,

As you guessed this product does edit few files of VM so you need to install Vm first. second we observed that it also work with VM1.4. If you have any trouble in installation feel free and ask for help we will help you for installation of product.

Thanks.

Thanks for your advice. I was able to get the registry working a little. But I am still having problems with the menus. I do not see an option to show all registries on the site. I do not want the users to have to log in before looking at a registry. Also, I would like to have the online checkout temporarily disabled. Is there a way to do that through virtuemart and still have the gift registry functional? We want our customers to be able to see the different registries we have, but they will need to come into the store to actually purchase the item.

Thanks

longview, you can change the payment method and disable shipping in virtuemart, this is what i've done as my clients customers will be contacted by us for payment

then it will purely be a reservation for the product(s)

as for viewing all registries, perhaps if all the registry persimssions were set to public you won't need to login to view a registry? i haven't tried it so i'm thinking out loud (we want out purchasers to register before viewing a list) and they can obviously only access the lists that they have the access code/email for - i personally wouldnt want everyone able to browse lists

I will try to modify payment options and disable shipping. It is good for the user to register before viewing the registry, but now they are required to log in twice. Once for the site and once for virtuemart. This could be confusing (and a hassle) for the visitor. Also, there should be a way for the site visitor (after logging in) to see which registries are available in case they don't know the email address of the registrant. I can understand why these registries are kept private, but my customer wants all registries to be more accessible.

Thanks.
